Green Isac crosses the highly popular Electronic dance energy with the traditional world elements of the west-African grooves from Gambia, layered with Asian textures and minimalist structural influences, inspired by composers like Philip Glass and Steve Reich. This outstanding new work features sophisticated electronic grooves, crafted textures and treatments, constrained melodic motifs, west-African drum grooves, wordless vocals, and a wide array of acoustic and percussion instruments. Green Isac is where ethnic percussion meets vintage synths, where bowed strings meet pottery.

If I wanted to point someone to Steve Roach's music, I'd start them here. This record spans some of Roach's signature styles, like the percolating synths in "Currents of Compassion", the dreamy abstraction of "Prometheus Passage", the tribal rhythms of "The Gone Place", and the elegiac majesty of "What Remains". It's stunning all around and guaranteed to make any day better.

A mesmerising and intelligent 'drift-a-thon'. The clean ebow guitar and sparse percussion take me away. Favourite track would be Viewpoint.

"Notturna" inspires images of night time drives and lonely highways, a trip through a deep darkness lit only by headlights, a thousand miles from anywhere else. It's an evocative track, a piece that's rich in imagery and ideas. Highly recommended...
