Berkdrums Thanks to a Spotted Peccary discount finally on my Bandcamp (have it on CD for ages)... so I can share this with people who want to hear this... I’m blessed to be in contact with Rudy, the nicest guy you want to meet btw.. We keep in touch about once a year, on email, mostly during the summertime when I’m at the huge house of my dear friend Jon, who then leaves his home with his family on a far away trip. During my hikes and bike-trips through the woods, fields, & open spaces there, which I’m really attached to, I always have days with Rudy Adrian-albums on my inears... OMG... this music is just so incredibly beautiful.. so connected with nature, so emotional immersive.. Please treat yourselves on some R.A.-albums, you won’t regret it... A huge wish for me is a new album in 2019.. Thanks Rudy for making me feel less alone in life, thanks to these amazing albums..

Brett Christensen Rudy captures the vast expanses, intriguing features, and mystery of the desert. Masterfully weaving together etherial synth tapestries, rich bass drones, subtle melodies, warm, spacious, flowing flute, minimalist percussion, all garnished with sounds that evoke the sense of the unique world of the desert. An engaging and thoroughly enjoyable listen! Favorite track: Starlight.

Rudy Adrian’s second release on the Lotuspike label, Desert Realms, is a beautifully crafted study in deeply serene and contemplative soundscapes, exploring the spectacular stillness and vast landscape of the American Southwest desert.

Explains Rudy, “I was fortunate to spend a weekend exploring The Arches and Canyon Lands National Parks in Utah, USA. My tour guides were electronic musician Robert Carty and his partner Patricia Sandoval, who showed me a number of their favourite locations in the North American desert. On returning to New Zealand I became interested in creating music inspired by that journey.”

Rudy’s compositions are by themselves both vast and serene, but an additional level of emotion is provided by the poignant and moving flute expressions of Nick Prosser on a few of the tracks. Prosser’s stirring musical statements interact with Rudy’s vast soundscapes, filling the spectacular sonic vista with just the right amount of life and feeling; reminding the listener that although the desert realms may appear at first stark and barren, they are in fact full of life and captivating beauty.

"This is stirring, emotive, psyche opening music of the highest order."
- Exposé Magazine (issue 37)

"a very nicely rendered sonic vista, highly recommended"

"Desert Realms is a laudable work of abject beauty."
- e/i Magazine, installment 24

"The experience is quiet and beautiful, like that of Spacemusic classics by Jonn Serrie, Michael Stearns and Kit Watkins"

released October 14, 2008
